  1. If you get the error: "Epic Games Launcher is currently running. Please close it before continuing," or if you're getting blocked from uninstalling, follow these steps:
    • Windows :
      • Right-click the Start menu and click Task Manager .
      • Click Epic Games Launcher .
      • Click End task .
      • Try uninstalling again.
    • Mac:
      • Open the Activity Monitor app. [8]

      • Click the stop button (X) in the top-left corner.
      • Click Force Quit .
      • Try uninstalling again.
  2. You may have temp files still on your device, and it may make it appear like the Launcher is still fully installed. Do the following:
    • Delete the Epic Games folder:
      • Open the File Explorer .
      • Navigate to the Epic Games folder. On most devices, this is C:\Program Files\EpicGames .
      • Right-click the Epic Games Folder.
      • Click Delete .
    • Delete the temp files:
      • Open the Start menu and type %localappdata% .
      • Click the %localappdata% folder.
      • Right-click the Epic Games Launcher folder and click Delete .
      • Click the Start menu and type %temp% .
      • Click the %temp% folder.
      • Select all files, right-click, and click Delete .
      • Press Win + R to open the Run menu.
      • Type prefetch and press Enter .
      • Select all files, and press the Del/Delete key.
      • Restart your computer.
  3. While putting an application in the trash uninstalls it, you may have leftover files on your device. Check the following locations on your Mac, and if you see unneeded folders, drag them to the trash bin to delete them.
    • Check the following locations for Epic Games folders or files:
      • /Home/Library/Applications Support/
      • /Library/StartupItems/ or /Home/Library/StartupItems/
      • /Library/LaunchAgents/
      • /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/
      • /Library/Receipts/
    • If you see any Epic-related folders, drag them to the bin.
    • Empty the bin.
  4. If you still can't uninstall the Epic Games Launcher after the previous tips, try restarting your device fully to apply any changes. Then, try uninstalling again.
