  • Question
At what temperature do I broil fish?
    Michele
    Top Answerer
Broiling is similar to grilling, only from the top instead of the bottom. Most boiler settings turn the element on and leave it on, just as the heat from a grill stays on. However, most ovens will shut the element off once the temperature reaches the maximum the oven is set for (450 - 500 degrees F). That's why it's suggested that when you broil, you leave the door slightly open to allow fresh air into the oven so the element will remain on.

At what temperature do I bake fish?

    Top Answerer
Fish can be baked at any temperature. Naturally, the lower the temp, the longer it needs to cook. Higher temps cook faster but if you're not careful, it's easy to overcook. See this wikiHow article on how to Bake Fish to find 4 ways to do this.

      Tips

      • Before broiling your fish, mix 1 pound (0.5 kilograms) of sliced tomatoes with 2 tablespoons each of capers and diced red onion. Add a 1/2 teaspoon olive oil to the tomato, caper and onion mixture, and then spread the mixture on top of and around the fish. Then, broil the fish.
      • To make fish tacos with whitefish, rub the fish with vegetable oil and mild chili powder before you broil it. While the fish is broiling, chop up 2 cucumbers, 1/2 cup (45 grams) cilantro, and 1 hot chili pepper of your choice. Mix the vegetables and cilantro together and add 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice to it. When the fish has cooled, flake it into small pieces. Serve the fish in corn tortillas with the vegetable and cilantro topping.
