Originally released in the 1.3 patch of Genshin Impact , the Parametric Transformer is a handy tool that lets players convert their existing items and character/weapon ascension materials into more useful resources. In this guide, we’ll teach you exactly how to get this item (if you don’t have it already), and how to use it once a week in your game.
Things You Should Know
- Reach Adventure Rank 31 and complete the Tianqiu Treasure Trail quest to get the Parametric Transformer.
- Load up the Parametric Transformer with 150 points of standard items or character/weapon ascension materials.
- Place the Parametric Transformer in your world and perform 18 elemental abilities around it to charge it up. Once you’ve received your items, wait 7 days to use the device again.
Steps
Section 1 of 3:
How to Get the Parametric Transformer
-
Accept the Tianqiu Treasure Trail quest in your quest menu. Open up the quest menu in your game by clicking, tapping, or selecting the scroll with an exclamation point in the center. Scroll through your quests until you reach the Tianqiu Treasure Trail option, and select the on-screen button to start the quest.
- Note: This quest might not be available if Lan, the NPC who initiates it, is involved in a separate quest. If you’ve started “The Chasm Delvers,” “The Chasm Charters,” “...What Do Adventurers Do Again?”, or “The Adventurers’ Guild’s Affairs” quests, be sure to finish them first.

Go to Liyue Harbor and meet with Lan. Head up to the Adventurer’s Guild headquarters in Liyue Harbor—the NPC Lan will be standing right next to the main booth where Katheryne sits. Start speaking with her to get the quest going.
-
Defeat the enemies at the specified location to get a Treasure Map. Head to the location marked in blue on your map after speaking with Lan, where a band of Hilichurls awaits. Defeat these Hilichurls with your team to automatically receive a Treasure Map within the loot.
-
Head to the Dunyu Ruins. The Treasure Map circles the main rubble of the Dunyu Ruins— teleport there and search within the highlighted circle. You’ll need to destroy some bushes with your weapon to reveal a stack of books on a few rocks.
-
Investigate a pile of books at the designated spot. Select the “Investigate” option to find a Strange Note within the books, which describes the 3 places you need to search. Don’t worry—they’re automatically marked on your map.
- Be prepared to fight various enemies in this area, including Fatui agents.
-
Search in the 3 highlighted areas to find 3 Exquisite Chests and a Strange Box. Explore the specified spots on the map until the option to “Dig” appears on your screen. Once you dig, an Exquisite Chest will appear. Repeat this process in all 3 spots to receive a Strange Box (in addition to the regular treasure loot).
-
Talk to Lan again to acquire the Parametric Transformer. Head back to the Adventurer’s Guild in Liyue Harbor to speak with Lan and officially complete the quest—this dialogue earns you the Parametric Transformer, a 4-star item that can be found in the Gadgets category of your inventory. How to Use the Parametric Transformer
-
Select the Parametric Transformer in your inventory and set it down. Go to the Gadgets section of your inventory and select the Parametric Transformer—it looks like a spiky teal ring with a smaller gold ring and a small gemstone enclosed inside. Hit the “Place” button to put the item down in your surrounding environment.
- Try to place and use the Parametric Transformer in a peaceful area where you aren’t likely to be ambushed by monsters.
-
Interact with the Parametric Transformer to open it up. Select the “Parametric Transformer” option that appears when you approach the item in-game.
-
Submit 150 points worth of materials to the Parametric Transformer. Standard items and character/weapon ascension materials are all assigned a point value of 1, 2, or 4. Submit 150 points worth of the same materials to the device in the bottom corner of the screen, and then select “Initiate Transmutation.” The higher the quality of the item, the fewer of that item you need to submit (e.g., submitting 150 one-point Heavy Horns vs. submitting 38 four-point Black Crystal Horns).
- 1-point items: Standard items (fruits, plants, minerals) and certain 1- and 2-star character and weapon ascension materials
- 2-point items: Certain 2- and 3-star character and weapon ascension materials
- 4-point items: Some 3-star and all 4-star character and weapon ascension materials
- Tip: The higher the quality of “fuel” you submit to the device, the better chance you have of receiving higher-quality items. For instance, if you have a lot of Heavy Horns from defeating Mitachurls, you could go to an Alchemy Table and upgrade them into Black Bronze Horns or Black Crystal Horns, which are 3- and 4-star items, respectively.
-
Perform 18 elemental abilities around the device. Have your party members perform elemental abilities near the Parametric Transformer. It takes 18 elemental attacks in total to completely charge up the item—it’ll show a percentage bar on top to indicate how charged it is. [3] X Research source
- Pro tip: Place your Parametric Transformer between tourmalines—these are purple, sparking crystals that can be found in areas like Cape Oath and Stormterror's Lair in Mondstadt and northeast Kannazuka Island in Inazuma. If you do this method, you don't need to perform elemental abilities around the device to charge it up.
-
Receive 20 items from the Parametric Transformer. Once you’ve completely charged up the device with the 18 elemental abilities, the Parametric Transformer will spit out a set of 20 items containing Mora, Character EXP Materials, Weapon Enhancement Materials, Character Ascension Materials, and Talent Level-Up Materials. -
Wait 7 days to use the Parametric Transformer. The device has a cooldown period of 6 days and 22 hours, so it can only be used once a week. It’ll be ready to use 1 week after you originally charged it up—it doesn’t automatically reset at the beginning of the week.
