If you want to mirror your computer, phone, or tablet's screen to your Roku TV, it's easy. Your Roku TV supports AirPlay and Miracast, so you can share your screen easily from Windows, Mac, and iOS. Things get a little trickier with Android, as some models (including Google Pixel) can't mirror to Roku, but we've found some helpful workarounds. Read on to learn how to share your screen on a Roku TV, and help you troubleshoot common issues.

Quickly Share Your Screen on a Roku TV

Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi as your Roku TV. On iPhone, iPad, & Mac, tap "Screen Mirroring" in Control Center and select your TV. On Android, open Quick Settings, select "Smart View" or "Screen Mirroring," and tap your TV. On Windows, press "Ctrl" + "K" and select the TV.

iPhone or iPad

  1. Because your Roku TV supports AirPlay, it's easy to share your iPhone or iPad's screen to your TV.
    • If your phone or tablet has Face ID, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen.
    • If it uses Touch ID, swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen.

    • If your iOS device isn't connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku TV, connect it to Wi-Fi now.

  1. If you're using a Samsung-branded Android phone or tablet, you can easily share your screen to a Roku TV using Samsung Smart View . Swiping down from the top of the screen opens your quick settings.
    • If your Android is not already connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku TV, connect it to Wi-Fi first.

  1. Unfortunately, many non-Samsung Androids cannot screen share to Roku TV because Roku TV doesn't support Chromecast. Swipe down from the top of your Home screen and look for an option called Screen Mirroring , Wireless Display , Quick Connect , AllShare Cast , Display mirroring , HTC Connect , Screen casting , or Mirroring .
    • If you see one of these options, and your Android is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku, tap it, then select your Roku TV if it appears to instantly mirror the screen.
    • If you don't see one of these options, or your Roku TV doesn't appear, your Android doesn't support screen mirroring to your Roku.
  2. If your Android doesn't support mirroring to Roku, this app is a great workaround. While you can't mirror the entire screen, you can cast anything to it using the app's built-in web browser.
    • To install Web Video Caster on your Roku TV, press the Home button on your Roku remote, scroll down and select Store , and search for "Web Video Caster – Receiver." Select the channel, then select Add Channel to add it to your Roku's home screen. [2]
    • If you have a Google phone, another option is to connect a Chromecast to your TV, or a streaming device that supports Chromecast like Amazon Fire Stick or NVIDIA Shield .
  3. Select the icon on your home screen, or select Go to channel from the Store. This displays some QR codes on the screen.
  4. Open your Android's camera, and hover it over the first QR code (the one that says "Google Play" below it) to scan it . Once scanned, tap the link on your Android to open the app's page on the Play Store, and tap Install to download the app. [3]
  5. You'll now find it on your home screen.
    • If prompted, give the app permission to access your Android and network.
  6. It'll be at the top-right corner of the app. A list of devices you can cast to will appear.
  7. You can now search for videos or websites in the Web Caster browser and instantly see them on your Roku TV's screen.

  1. This is the notification area (the chat bubble icon) at the bottom-right corner of the screen. If you have notifications, you'll see a number over the bubble.
    • If your PC isn't connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku TV, connect it now.
  2. After a few seconds, a list of devices will appear.
  3. Everything you do on your Windows PC will now be shared on your Roku TV screen. You'll also hear your PC's audio through your Roku TV.

  1. Pressing Windows key + K at the same time opens the Cast menu on your PC and starts scanning your network for compatible devices.
    • If your PC isn't connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku, connect it to Wi-Fi now.

Troubleshooting

  1. If your Roku TV and the device you want to mirror aren't on the same Wi-Fi network, you may not be able to share your screen.
  2. If your Roku TV isn't showing up when you try to share your screen from your phone, tablet, or computer, you may be too far from the TV. Move a little closer and try again.
  3. If your Roku doesn’t show up when you try to share your screen, screen mirroring may be disabled, or you may have accidentally blocked your device.
    • Press the Home button on your Roku remote and select Settings .
    • Go to System > Screen mirroring .
    • Go to Screen mirroring devices . If your device is in the "Blocked devices" list, select and remove it.
    • Go to Screen mirroring mode . If "Never allow" is selected, select Prompt or Always allow instead.
  4. Try searching for your device and "screen mirroring" on the web to see if it supports screen sharing. Because Roku doesn't have Chromecast support, some Androids cannot screen share to Roku. If you have a Google Pixel or Nexus, you can't mirror your screen, but you can cast an app to your screen if you have the app installed on both your Roku TV and your Android (ex: YouTube).
  5. If you're using a VPN on your computer, phone, or tablet, it may prevent you from sharing your screen with your Roku TV. Disconnect your VPN and try again.
