Losing track of your phone can become a major inconvenience for the safety of your information. Your phone can also be used to pull a prank on your friends by receiving a call from a “very important person” who they need to talk to. It is also useful for testing out how loud of a sound you want your phone to emit. There are a wealth of options that can be performed with your phone’s settings, external apps and proper coordination.
Ways to Make Your Phone Ring
The easiest way to make your phone ring is to call it from another phone. You can also use a website like CallMyPhone or an app to make your phone ring. If you want to make your phone's ringtone play, you can do that from the Settings app. You can also use Find My Device to track a lost phone and make it play a sound.
Steps
-
Go to https://callmyphone.org . CallMyPhone is a website that will call your phone when you put in your phone number. CallMyPhone states that it keeps all information submitted to the site confidential, and that data is deleted after three months.
-
Type in your phone number. Make sure to include your country code, too (i.e., +1 for the US, +44 for the UK, etc.).
-
Click Make it ring . There will be a brief timer, and once the timer has run out, your phone will ring.
- You can use CallMyPhone up to 4 times in a 24-hour period. [1] X Research source
-
Open the Settings app. This app will usually be on your phone's home page by default.
-
Configure ringtone audio . This step may differ depending on your phone type.
- On iPhone, choose the Sounds & Haptics option. Scroll through to find the Ringtone option which shows your currently selected ringtone. Tap on a ringtone to play it.
- On Android, it may be listed under either Sounds or Sound & Notification. Choose Phone ringtone to select a ringtone to play then tap on Preview to play the ringtone or tap on Apply to save your changes.
-
Test the ringtone audio. You can adjust how loud you want your phone to be when receiving a phone call.
- On iPhone, tap Sounds & Haptics then adjust the Ringtone and Alerts slider to apply your changes to keep the ringtone at the specified audio level.
- On Android, choose Volumes then adjust the Ringtone & notifications slider to test your ringtone.
-
Open Find My/Find My Device on another device. You can use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) to ring your own phone in case it's lost. The one caveat is that you must have set up Find My/Find My Device before your phone was lost.
- If you don't have another phone to use, you can alternatively go to https://www.icloud.com/find or https://www.google.com/android/find/about .
- Check out these wikiHows to learn how to set up Find My or Find My Device .
-
Sign in with your account. You may need to have the owner of the device you're using tap Sign in as guest to sign in to your iCloud or Google account.
-
Tap your phone from the list of devices. On Android, you may be required to enter the phone's PIN.
-
Tap Play Sound to play a sound. While this isn't the same as making your phone actually ring, your phone will emit a sound so you can locate it.
