Welcome to the latest wikiHaus Lab update! Here’s what’s happening for July 24th:
What’s happening? The team is considering some new interactive features for the Homepage. Let us know if you have any new ideas we could look into!
What’s happening? You may have noticed that the team has been adding some visuals to the Things You Should Know (TYSK) section — the idea is to convey lots of helpful information in a single image such that the visual itself can act as an explainer of sorts on its own! They seem to be doing really well and so they’re excited about pursuing more of these and updating the alt text of those images to be more descriptive for improved accessibility and discoverability in search. You can see an example of this here: Types of Jawlines, Explained: Which Shape Do You Have?
.
What’s happening? We’ve also been incorporating more content from our experts into our content. One way we’re doing this is by highlighting advice from our experts in the Things You Should Know Section (lots happening in TYSK land lately!). You can see examples here
and here
. We have also been adding Expert Greenboxes, where we introduce experts cited in the article to flag our expert content to readers and give them a chance to learn more about them. You can see this at the bottom of step 1 here
and here
.
What’s happening? In the last wikiHaus Lab update
, we mentioned that the team has been hard at work producing more analyzers and generators. We are now embedding those interactive experiences as widgets within related articles. You can check one out here: Cute & Aesthetic Usernames for Any Account (With Generator)
You may have noticed:Jayne made a post last week announcing that her last day as Community Manager will be August 1st. We will miss her! While we’re still working through what the next phase of the Community Manager role will look like, we have created a new CommunityTeam
account (hi! It’s us). We realize we have large shoes to fill, but please know that you can reach out with questions, ideas, or any other matters you’d normally go to Jayne for. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we get our bearings a bit!
You may have noticed:Big thanks go to Bhoimus for updating the many mentions of Jayne around the site to now point to the CommunityTeam
. The official email for the CommunityTeam is communityteam@wikihow.com
, and emailing from the User Page email function will go there. If you see any other mentions that need updating, please feel free to make them!
