A step-by-step guide to ordering an Uber for family and others
Do you need to order an Uber for someone else? Maybe you have family members that need a ride somewhere. Maybe you just want to make sure a friend gets home safely. Luckily, the Uber app allows you to request a ride for someone else as well as add family members to your account. This wikiHow teaches you how to request an Uber for someone else.

- Tap Where to? at the top.
- Tap For Me at the top and select Add new contact .
- Enter the person's phone number and tap Next .
- Enter the person's name and tap Add rider .
- Make sure the person is selected and tap Done .
- Enter a pickup and drop-off location.
- Select a ride type and tap Confirm Pickup .

Open the Uber app. If you're not automatically signed in, enter your login information.

Tap For Me . It's the second drop-down menu at the top of the page.

Tap Add new contact . It's the second option in the menu.

Enter your friend's phone number and tap Next . You can select their number from your contacts list or you can enter their number in the field at the top of the page. Then tap Next at the bottom of the page.

Enter the person's name and tap Add rider . Enter the first and last name of the person for whom you are ordering an Uber. This is the name the driver will see. Then tap Add rider at the bottom of the screen.

Make sure the person is selected and tap Done . Ensure the radio option next to the rider's name is selected and tap Done at the bottom of the screen.

Enter a pick-up location. To do so, tap the field next to the circle dot at the top of the page. Then enter the address that the person will be waiting at.

Enter the destination the person needs to get to. To do so, tap the field below the pick-up address and enter the address the person is traveling to.

Select a ride. This could be an UberX, UberXL, Comfort, or any other available choice. The price will be listed next to each ride type. Tap the type of ride you want to choose and then tap the black button at the bottom of the screen.
- If you want to change your payment method. Tap your credit cart at the bottom of the screen. Select another payment method or tap Add payment method at the bottom of the screen and follow the prompts to add a payment method.

Tap Confirm Pickup . It's the black button at the bottom of the screen. This confirms the pickup. The person will receive a text message with information about the driver, including their name, ETA, license plate number, and the type of car they are driving.

Open the Uber app. You can use the Uber app to add family members to your account . Then your family members can order an Uber using a shared account.

Tap Account . It's in the lower-right corner. It has an icon that resembles a silhouette.

Tap Family and teens . It's the first option below the large button options at the top of the account menu. It's next to an icon that resembles a group of people.

Tap Add new member . It's the first option at the top of the menu.

Tap Invite family . It's the black button at the bottom of the page.

Select if they are an adult or teen. If the person is over 18 years of age, tap the radio option next to "Adult." If the person is between the ages of 13 to 17, tap the radio option next to "Teen." Then tap Continue at the bottom of the page.

Tap Choose contact . If you are adding a teen, you will be given some information about teen accounts. Tap Choose contact at the bottom of the screen to continue.

Enter your family member's phone number. You can either tap their name in your contacts list, or you can enter their number at the top of the page.

Enter their contact information. Make sure you enter their first and last name, their phone number, and date of birth. Then tap Save at the bottom of the screen.

Tap the checkbox to agree to the terms of use. It's at the bottom of the screen.

Tap Send Invite . It's the black button at the bottom of the screen. Your family member will receive an invitation to download the app and set up their own account. [2] X Research source
