Applin, introduced in Pokémon's 8th generation, was instantly popular for its cute design and unique evolution method that can result in either Flapple or Appletun. Applin has gotten some updates in Generation 9, with the Scarlet and Violet DLC adding a new Applin evolution, Dipplin, and a final evolution for Dipplin, Hydrapple. Keep reading to learn how to get the items to evolve your Applin and catch an Applin if you don't already have one.

Things You Should Know

  • You can get Flapple and Appletun in Gen 8 and 9, but Dipplin is only available in Gen 9.
  • To get Dipplin, you'll need the Teal Mask DLC for Scarlet and Violet.
  • Flapple can only be obtained in Sword, and Appletun can only be obtained in Shield.

    The Applin will automatically evolve into a Flapple, Appletun, or Dipplin. Much like an evolutionary stone, these apples are one-time-use items, and there's no level requirement to use them on your Applin.

    You can only get Tart Apples in Pokémon Sword and Sweet Apples in Pokémon Shield. These apples are available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but Syrupy Apples can only be purchased if you have the Teal Mask DLC.
    • You can trade these apples to your friends in other game versions by attaching them to a Pokémon as a held item, and then trading the Pokémon to your friend. This is a great alternative to evolving the Applin yourself, as it allows your friend to choose their own Applin to evolve.
