  • Question
Do I have to wait until fall to transplant lilies that bloom in late spring?
    Gail Raehn
    Community Answer
Some say you should. However, I have done them at all times as long as they are not in bloom with either foliage or the flowers. You should also know they will produce foliage in the spring, and then the foliage will die back and the flowers will be produced in mid to late summer.
  • Question
    How do I eliminate pests?

For pests such as lily beetles, you can pick them off with your hands. You can also use a pesticide spray a few times a month.
  • Question

Items in pots can be transplanted at anytime. Plant at the same depth they are in the pot, during the coolest time of day.
  • Question
How can I divide and replant a cluster of gold Asiatic lilies that are still in bloom?
    Community Answer
It may cause damage to replant while in bloom. It is best to wait until three to four weeks after bloom.
  • Question
Can lilies be transplanted in late summer instead of fall?
    Community Answer
Yes, but ideally you should wait until the fall.
  • Question
When's the best time to split lily bulbs?
    Gail Raehn
    Community Answer
Do not split the bulbs themselves. When they are mature enough, there will be two bulbs (or more) attached to each other. At that point you can simply pull them apart if you wish, or you can leave them as they are and allow them to grow and multiply more. Surprise lilies are robust and can take a lot.
  • Question
Is it safe to plant them outside in North Carolina?
    Community Answer
    Yes.
  • Question
If my lilies have bloomed, can I move the bulbs?
    Gail Raehn
    Community Answer
As long as the foliage or the flowers are not present, you can move them. It's best to move them in fall, but I have successfully moved them at other times.
