Keep the caps clean and close the tubes. Keep them away from heat. Otherwise, the binder and pigments will separate. When you open the paint tubes to use, plenty of linseed oil will come out.

  • Question
How do I keep my drawn eyes from looking uneven?
    Community Answer
This is something many beginning artists struggle with. If you draw guide lines across the face at key points, this will help you make sure the top, bottom, and corner of the eyes line up. You can also draw vertical guide lines to make it easier to see how wide each eye is compared to the other. Remember that if you are drawing the face at an angle, the eyes will not appear identical, and trying to match them up will actually make them look uneven! The eye further away from the viewer should look smaller.
  • Question
Where do I find good drawing pencils?
    Community Answer
This depends on where you live. Any local art store should have a variety of pencils to choose from, or you can order them online from many retailers. If you are just starting out, you don't need to spend money on fancy pencils yet. You can use a regular pencil, or even experiment with other things you have lying around like pens, crayons, etc. If you have an art class at school, the teacher may also have some art pencils you can borrow in class and try out.

My realistic eyes look uneven. How do I make them more even?
    Karlaly
    Community Answer
It's hard to describe whithout pictures, but you could try using 'guide lines. Before you start drawing the eyes, make two simple ovals that have the same size. Between them should be enough space for a third oval. This way, it'll be easier for your brain to estimate how big the eyes are going to be in comparison to each other. You can just draw the eyes inside the two ovals.

  • Question
What are some keys and tips for shading?
    Community Answer
Use your "very darks" and "very lights", meaning press harder than you think you should in certain spots and leave shine by erasing or leaving a spot empty in certain areas. Don't go overboard with shading too. Sometimes, a nice smooth line around the edge of your piece is enough. Do not forget to start near the edges with the darkest shading and work your way up to the light spots.
