  • Question
Can I change the loft on my current clubs?
    Community Answer
See a reputable club maker to check if the lofts are as specified. How much an iron can be altered depends on whether it is forged or cast, and the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Question
I am five feet tall and 140 pounds. What length do I need for my wedge and five-iron?
    Community Answer
The proper length based on a fitting, or at least use Ping's online static fit chart.
  • Question
How do I change golf shafts?
    Community Answer
Removing steel shafts is a matter of heating the hosel and pulling them off. Heat and a shaft puller should be used for graphite shafts, or damage may occur. All types of shafts need to be tip prepped, ferrules applied and then epoxied to the head. It is not expensive to have this done by someone who is experienced and already has the necessary equipment (recommended) unless you would like to take club building up for a hobby and purchase a lot of equipment like I did and the wife does not appreciate.
  • Question
Do golf clubs have serial numbers?
    Community Answer
Depends on the manufacturer. Ping -- 100% yes. Cobra, yes. Callaway recently stopped putting serial numbers on their wedges, but they still might on other clubs.
  • Question
What does it mean when the marks on the contact tape are at the toe of the iron?
    Community Answer
It means either the club is too long or the angle needs to be adjusted.
  • Question
How can I shorten a 4 fairway wood by 1 inch? Should I have it cut at the tip or at the top?
    Community Answer
At the grip end. You can test the results before cutting the shaft by choking up on the club by 1 inch to see if shortening the club is going to improve your game.
