  • Question
I have Windows 10 and repeatedly pressing F8 for Safe Mode didn't work. Is there another way to get to Safe Mode?
    Community Answer
Yes, when you are logged in normally, press Ctrl + X, click Run and type "msconfig" (without quotation marks). Then, click the "Boot" tab and select your Safe Mode preferences. After selecting your options, a pop up will explain that you need to restart your computer. Restart your computer and it should automatically boot into Safe Mode. To get out of Safe Mode, follow the same instructions but uncheck the "Safe Mode" box and click "Apply."
  • Question
How can I tell how many viruses are on my Mac computer?
    Community Answer
Look up how to view all the processes running on your computer for your OS. On Mac, it's the Activity Monitor in Applications/Utilities. Then look through it and look for any suspicious names. Look up the name to see what it is. It may take a while but it is a sure-fire way.
  • Question
On my 5th generation Kindle, it says I have a Trojan threat and I can't get past the page. It says I need to call a number. What can I do to deal with the threat?
    Community Answer
Whatever you do, do NOT call the number. Just do a factory reset, and remember to create a new account when you re-register because if you register with the one you did when you had a virus, it will not solve the problem.
  • Question
I have YAE spyware but it slows down my computer. Your suggestions don't work for me, do you have any others?
    Community Answer
Try Malwarebytes. It's free, and does a fair job of eliminating spyware. Also, try running it in 'safe mode' (hold down F8 while your Windows computer is booting, then select "boot in safe mode").
  • Question
Trojan viruses affected my whole PC. What can I do?
    Community Answer
If running a PC anti-virus program (such as McAfee or Norton) hasn't helped, you will probably need to reset your computer. This will wipe out all programs and files you have installed on your computer, so this should only be done as a last resort.
  • Question
    Is the process hard?
    Community Answer
No, not if you know your way around the console. Some suggest not using automated removers, however. They are sometimes malicious themselves. Even though they may work, they may also secretly track you.
