QuestionDo smoking and drinking create bad karma?Community AnswerI don't know for sure if drinking or smoking by themselves create bad karma, but consider this: smoking is not just detrimental to the health of the smoker. The second-hand smoke created is harmful to the people who are nearby. And the smoker brings with him/her the smell of the smoke on their clothes, so that people around can smell the smoke. Drinking, if in excess, such as when the drinker gets drunk, might at the least be annoying for the people around. More so, if the drunk person goes on to drive, or get into a fight, people around may get hurt since self-control is reduced when one is drunk. I would think that causing others harm in these ways would create bad karma.

QuestionDo bad dreams reflect bad karma?Community AnswerPossibly. This is a paraphrase of what the Buddha taught on this topic: All that we are is the sum of our thoughts. If you speak evil or perform an evil action, suffering will follow you like the wheel follows the hoof of an animal pulling a cart. If you (habitually) speak good or perform good actions, happiness will follow you like a shadow. If you fill your mind with unwholesome thoughts, you will attract suffering. If your evil thoughts are not in harmony with your true nature, it will trouble your mind, affecting your dreams.

What should I do to reverse any possible bad karma (I haven't done anything super bad, just in case)?Manya DubeyCommunity AnswerIt is really good to hear that youth is taking interest in Hinduism. Karma is of both types good and bad. When you do bad to someone it will find a way coming back to you and the same is with good.
