  • Question
Is the nutrient solution the same for all the plants?
    Community Answer
No. Every plant needs a specific formula for their specific age and if it is vegetative state or flora.
  • Question
Once I have mixed the hydroponics in a jar, for how long can I store the mix without it going bad?
    Max.terps
    Community Answer
That depends on the type of nutrients you have used, but as a general guide, you should only mix enough nutrient solution that you will need for the next 2 weeks. Growing hydroponically means the plants are receiving all their nutrition through this solution being delivered to them at regular intervals, so I am not sure how long you can feed your plant(s) with a jar full of nutrient solution, unless for seedlings. An established plant could use liters of nutrient solution every day, depending on its size and how much light it is being grown under.
  • Question
Where can I get plant nutrients?
    Community Answer
You can buy it at hydroponic stores. You can also find it in online stores.
  • Question
    Can I use rainwater?
    Community Answer
No, because of impurity in rainwater. If you want to use that water, then you need to purify water by RO machine and check pH level of water.
  • Question
How do I know how many nutrients I need for my hydroponics?
    Community Answer
Each plant requires a certain amount of nutrients (ppm) in an certain proportion (N-P-K and micros) for each stage, from seedling to harvest. You must learn the principles of each stage's needs. For examples, leaves need nitrogen, flowers need potassium, etc. Different plants have different needs; lettuce, for example, are "weaker" than tomatoes, so ppm will be lower for lettuce.
  • Question
How can I measure the amount of nutrients for a crop when plants are at different points of the life cycle?
    Community Answer
That would be multiple crops if you have plants at different points of the life cycle. You will need to mix one reservoir for your younger plants and another for your older plants.
  • Question
How do I maintain the temperature so the water is warm?
    Community Answer
This depends on whether or not the system is an outdoor or indoor system, among other factors. Indoor systems are easy to maintain at the right temperature, while outdoor systems require more equipment and fine-tuning.
  • Question
How many plantations can I do in a hydroponic system?
    Community Answer
You can do many. Pumps would be one of the first things to fail, but not right away and they can be replaced or fixed. It is the water solution what needs to be replaced every few weeks.
