What do I do if I deal and there's not an even amount of cards?

After the first 4 card word, there will be 51 cards left. The numbers only work out even with 3 players. With 2 or 4 players, just deal until the last even count can be dealt. Put the remaining cards on the side. They will not be used this game.

Can I add an S to the end of the word, or does it have to remain a 4-letter word throughout the game?

No, it has to remain a 4-letter word. You may start the game with a 3-letter word or a 5-letter word, but these are harder. You may also add an 'S' on top of the fourth letter card to form a plural word maybe, for example if you have the word 'Hate' on the table, you could add an 'S' on top of the 'E' card, thus the word will be 'Hats'.

Can I practice the game on my own?

Try to practice the game on you own and just have a timer to time yourself. Give yourself like ten seconds to decide what word you want to put down and then if you want to, put down another timer and that one would be like a five minute one to finish the game off. Do not be discouraged if you cannot finish the game in five minutes because it takes time.
