  • Question
What's the best introductory philosophy textbook?
    Community Answer
Russell's history of philosophy is a very good option. Otherwise read Plato's Republic, that will give you a good basis for discussing many core philosophical topics.
  • Question
Do I need a high school diploma to study philosophy?
    Community Answer
You will need a diploma to study philosophy in a university or college, but you can learn much about the field without a diploma from free online courses and books.
  • Question
Is it possible for me to be majored in both international law and philosophy? What would be the benefits?
    Community Answer
I would imagine that there would be no benefits since all law is based on rules and precedents, and philosophy is based on individualist thinking and opinion. Perhaps philosophy might help you to understand why laws are quite different in different countries, but that still wouldn't likely help you to deal with them. I'm sure if you want to spend the time you could major in both, but I reckon there are far better pairings you could choose to spend your time and money on.
  • Question
Is it a good idea to go for a master's in philosophy when I did a different course for my first degree?
    Community Answer
It depends on what exactly you are trying to accomplish. Would it help you in your career goals? Would it enhance your life in some positive way?
  • Question
Is it a must to read a lot of different books?
    Community Answer
Yes, studying philosophy is all about reading lots of different books. You need to be able to compare and contrast different philosophical theories/opinions.
