Google tries to autocomplete your web searches with trending topics and info from your personal browsing history. Although they’re usually helpful, sometimes these recommendations may be irrelevant or private. Luckily, turning off these trending and personal search suggestions is really easy. Keep reading to learn how to turn off search suggestions in Google from your Android, iPhone, or iPad.

How to Remove Google Search Suggestions

From the Google app, tap on your profile pictures, and select Settings Privacy & Safety Personal Results → toggle off Personalize Search . To remove recent search suggestions, delete them manually or clear your search history .

Disabling Personal Search Recommendations

  1. It's the multicolored "G" icon in your Android, iPhone, or iPad's app list. If you don't want Google to make predictions and recommendations based on your previous activity, you can disable personal results in search with this method.

  1. Open the Google app and tap on the search bar. When your recent searches appear on screen, swipe left on the result you want to get rid of. Tap on the red trash can to remove the suggestion from your search history.
    • On an Android, long-press on the search suggestion and select the “Delete” option.
  2. Open your Google app and tap on your profile picture in the top-right corner. Select “Search History” from the menu and then tap on the “Delete” button near the middle-left of the page. You can choose to delete your entire search history, or select searches from a specific time frame. [2]
