The steps to take a screenshot are a bit different depending on your model of iPhone, but it always involves pressing two buttons at the same time. If you are unable to use the buttons on your iPhone for any reason, you can try AssistiveTouch or Back Tap to take a screenshot with just one finger, or you can use Siri.

Ways to Screenshot on an iPhone

  • Use the side button and volume up button if your iPhone doesn't have a Home Button.
  • Press the Home Button and side button if your iPhone does have a Home Button.
  • Activate Siri and say "Take a screenshot."
  • Enable AssistiveTouch and add the screenshot function to the top level menu.
  • Enable Back Tap and set the screenshot function to the Double or Triple Tap.

If Your iPhone Has Face ID

    • Use this method if your iPhone does not have a round Home button below the screen.
  2. The Volume Up button is on the left side of the phone, and the Side button is on the right side. When you release your fingers from the buttons, the screen will briefly flash white. [1]

  3. After capturing the screenshot, a small version of it will appear in the bottom-left corner, where it will remain for several seconds. If you tap this preview, it will open for editing in Markup.
    • You can drag the bars on any edge of the image to crop off what you don't need.
