How to Unlock All the Characters in Super Mario 64 DS

Here are some tips on how to unlock all the characters in SM64DS. Contrary to what you may have heard Waluigi is NOT a playable character.

To unlock Mario, play as Yoshi and try to unlock at least 8 stars, if some stars are difficult to earn, such as "Mario Wings To The Sky", skip them and move on to other levels.

You will see 5 doors, a white door, a red door, a green door, a yellow door, and a plain door.

Go to the upper-right corner in the polka-dotted room. Open the door that's there, jump into the portrait of Mario, head left and stop at the spot where you see poison in front of you. Then go left as it's a shortcut.

Be alert though, there are Goombas on the bridge they can only be stomped while they are on the bridge, but once you get close to the end of the bridge it is possible to swallow them.

How do I get the key to unlock the door at the top of the stairs Super Mario 64 DS?

First, you need to clear “Bowser in the dark world”. Then you unlock the downstairs area. Find the Bowser level, beat it, and you will have the key to the upstairs area.

How do I get onto the second level in Big Boo's Haunt? I want to rescue Luigi and I can't get up there.

You want to have activated the ? Switch. Once you have, go into Big Boo's Haunt as Mario, and go to the room on the second floor with the ? Block. Break the block, pick up the flower, and fly up to the ledge above it. Then enter the Luigi painting and go through the level as normal.

Find the door with many Boos behind it. Start killing Boos until one drops a cage. Bump into it and you are there.
