As the tradition goes, so must this thread. Last year @JuneDays started the 2013 equivalent, which you can find back here, to check the achievements people set for themselves: http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/comment/280596/#Comment_280596 The idea is that everyone lists a set of achievement you hope to complete by this time next year. In August/September next year, we can check on the progress we’ve made since this thread. That being said, I’ll start this years list. By 2015 I hope to: *Have written 30 or more articles *Have 10 Featured Articles *Attend a meetup *At least get to 20.000 edits patrolled *Earn a Barnstar *Translate some articles over to the Dutch wikiHow Go ahead and post what you’d like to achieve by 2015.

*Become a booster *Get another Featured Article *Get to 30,000 edits patrolled

Those are some great goals! By 2015, I hope to continue providing volunteer community support and boosting new articles that have been sent from the hatchery to NAB, as well as attending a second IRL meetup.

*Get at least two more featured articles *Get to 10,000 edits *Get to at least 25,000 patrolled edits *Earn a Barnstar *Become an admin

Um, having a goal to become an admin is absurd for a hell of a lot of reasons.

Why is it absurd? It’s a perfectly legitimate and possible goal. Over 100 others have done it.

I just find it silly to make it a GOAL. You should just want to help the community, not try to get noticed and receive some pretty buttons by a certain date. Just my opinion on it, do what you will.

My goal is to help the community. The only reason I want to become an admin is so I can have more tools to enable me to do that.

:slight_smile:I’m not going to fight with you. I’ve seen many threads started by you so if you want to talk to this, send me a talkpage message instead.

It was never my intention to fight.

Good.:slight_smile:Then I’m glad you recognize that I still disagree with your goal quite a lot and find it counterproductive.:slight_smile:Anyway, let’s get back on topic. My goal is to continue not doing much at all and just to have fun.

  1. Set up a resource center to empower newcomers.
  2. Lobby more strongly to get engineering time allocated for making small changes which will allow each wikiHowian to use time on the site more productively.
  3. Finalize three articles which will make a measurable difference in the world or ecosphere.
  4. Finalize one article which will offer a productivity boost to any wikiHowian who chooses use the method(s).
  5. Finish editing the wikiHow dictionary.
  1. Become a booster 2. Become a featured author 3. Earn a barnstar 4. Format atleast 150 articles 5. Patrol atleast 10,000 edits 6. Get to 10,000 edits

By this time in 2015, I hope to: -Have written 75 articles -Be assisting with NAB more often -Be making good use of the Welcome Wagon tool…I keep overlooking this :\ -Work more on NFD Guardian -Possibly get back involved with a site project or team -Attend another IRL meetup

Although I met and achieved most of my goals that I’d stated for this year, I do hope to bring through some of my goals back for another try. These goals include: 1.) I’d like to create an article somewhere in the range of 850 to 1000. I’m right now in the 770 range and would like to be within that number between now and Christmas this year. I was doing some elementary planning last year and guess I got too overwhelmed and didn’t have many ideas I could of written in my time permitted. 2.) Take a large lead in helping in the Method Editor tool. Having helped in most of the other tools and kind-of’ keeping Method Editor edits rather silent from January 2013-January 2014, I tried “pressing forward” as of the last 2 weeks and would like to drive that number even further downward. While I know I have Skipped a bunch, there are some the tool is finding and yet the Dashboard says the tool has 0 in them for the last 3 days, and it keeps finding other article’s I haven’t dealt with yet. 3.) Update screenshots to the new “green design” of articles dealing with the site. In the past, I only gave consideration to the article’s I’ve started and gave little consideration to those having screenshots already. 4.) Help on a few other merges. With the help of other spreadsheets I’ve found from other forum threads on this issue, I’ve helped reduce the number by a bunch, and would like to reduce those that have incorrectly placed templates. I’d like to drive that one side down to few, along with at least 1 or 2 of those that have accurately-placed templates. 5.) Attend another wikiHow meetup. Although I’m always hoping that there’d be something on the East coast I could travel to easily, I’d be happy to take whatever I can get. I know there have been some voiced concerns from another member recently whos said they’d try to bring in a virtual meetup (which actually sounds interesting), but meeting people face to face and getting to know them a little better, seems even more appealing to me. Oh yeah, staying more than 3 days is actually key. I felt I didn’t have too much time and by the time I got to the area this past year, my vacation felt “over” (and I’d love to be able to change that in the upcoming year’s version). 6.) Become a Welcome Wagon user. Having started http://www.wikihow.com/Become-a-Welcome-Wagon-User-on-wikiHow (based on a split-off from Adelaide’s http://www.wikihow.com/Use-the-Welcome-Wagon-Tool-on-wikiHow (and mine now being used as the link for gaining access to the tool). 7.) Help work on building a bigger and better wiki Dictionary (much like @Alabaster 's thought/plans) 8.) Create a few more UIB’s, where other UIBs are needed (yes, I’ll still be searching to ensure no duplicates) Are there any pages onsite that can quickly show where other UIBs are needed @Krystle @Anna ? 9.) (My list is nearly endless, etc.) There may be times when other ideas spark my mind. Sorry if I’ve missed one for this year. I had others, however, I know it’s going to take a bit more time and work to gather these accomplishments.

  • Finish writing the numerous articles saved in my drafts - Summon “power booster Matt” more often:slight_smile:- Attend another meetup - Cope with the increasing number of readers, editors, and backlogs due to wikiHow’s obvious growth in popularity

That is an acceptable goal to have @WritingEnthusiast14 . As long as you didn’t come in the door (join wikiHow) wanting to be an admin and that’s all you talk about. NONE of those behaviors, that I’ve noticed, could be applied to you.

@Ttrimm Of course I’m not here just to become an admin. I’m ultimately here to help wikiHow grow.

That’s a great role WE14! Keep up the awesomeness on site!

  1. Become a new article booster. 2. Write more rising stars 3. Get one of my Articles get selected as a Featured Article 3. Become a welcome wagon user. 4. Improve some articles’ quality. 5. Lower the community dashboard numbers. 6. Get a higher edit count (# of edits). 7. Get a higher RC Patrol count (# of edits patrolled).
