The PSP has an estimated battery life of around four to five hours and you may need to completely charge your PSP in order for any software updates to complete. How to Charge a PSP through USB

Turn your PSP on and scroll left to Settings . Scroll down to System Settings and turn on USB Charge and USB Auto Connect . Connect your mini-USB to your PSP at the top of the device. Plug the other end of the mini-USB into your computer to start charging. This method does not work if your PSP can’t turn on.
