If you apply a stick foundation, you don't need a cream/liquid foundation over it.
  • Question
How can I find the right foundation for my skin tone if I am very pale?
    Community Answer
You can ask at cosmetics counters in department stores if they can color-match you. High-end foundations usually have a better selection of colors. If you want to keep it budget-friendly there are some really good foundations in drugstores so you might just have to keep looking. Some people find that mixing two colors gives them a better match. You might try that as well.

You could use a white moisturizer, baby powder or a wet sponge.
  • Question
For how long does stick foundation work? What are some good foundations for dark skin?
    Community Answer
Stick foundation works for about 2 to 7 hours until you take it off with the makeup remover. For dark skin I suggest finding any brand that has a shade to match your tone.
  • Question
Does stick foundation work well for oily skin?
    Community Answer
It depends; some stick foundations can be too moisturizing for oily skin. If the stick is a brand that uses a thicker formula, it will probably be okay for oily skin, but it's not the best choice.
  • Question
My stick foundation is dry on my skin and doesn't blend well, what do I do?
    Community Answer
If you have a moisturizing serum you could mix it onto the stick with your fingers first, but you could also heat the foundation stick up slightly before use.

I’ve always put my white/setting powder after I put my foundation. My question now is: am I right? Or should I put it in after I’ve done my shadows/highlighter etc.?

Either works! If you want a more intense look put it on before sculpting. For a more smooth and blended or muted look, put it on after sculpting.

Just as any type of foundation, some stick foundations can transfer. Make sure you use little product and really press the foundation into your skin with your fingers or a beauty sponge, to melt the product into your epidermis. You can use a fixing spray to avoid some foundation transfer.
  • Question
Is it necessary to apply a primer before applying foundation stick?
    Jia Pia
    Community Answer
As long as you use a moisturizer, it isn't super necessary. However, if you use primer, the stick glides on so much more easily without you having to rub your skin. Also, primer fills in pores and just creates an even landscape for you to apply the stick foundation. This is just my personal experience using stick foundation with and without primer. I really recommend it, but if you're in a pinch, a moisturizer can do the trick . You can also find priming moisturizers if that helps!
  • Question
Please give me some tips to hide appearance of wrinkles with stick foundation?
    Jia Pia
    Community Answer
Stick foundation is best for oily skin, and it's not great for dry skin depending on the ingredients. Generally, wrinkles are more apparent on dry skin. I would suggest using a moisturizer, and then grab a really good primer to put underneath that. Afterwards, when you set your foundation with powder, that will reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. You can also bake the powder onto the wrinkles. Apply a generous amount of powder, wait a few minutes, and then sweep the powder from the areas you baked, and that should solve your problem.
