QuestionWhat are blackheads?Community AnswerBlackheads are small bumps that may appear on the oily areas of your face as a result of clogged pores. Each blackhead is a plug of sebum (the oil that your pores produce naturally) that darkens when exposed to the air.

QuestionI don't really know what brands to use. I have very oily skin, but nothing I'm using seems to be working. Any advice?Community AnswerOily skin is a big issue for many people, especially teens. The first step is to cleanse your face. Use warm water to open up the pores, then use soaps with glycolic acid twice a day. Use a toner with salicylic acid as this will remove and prevent blackhead formation caused by excessive oil build up, especially on the nose. It will also help control the oil. Apply this at night. Use a light moisturizer, preferably in a gel form. Even when skin is oily, you still need to moisturize to prevent over-dryness. My preference is Nivea Moisturizing Day Cream. In addition to that, I apply Clearasil Ultra-Strength Spot Cream to keep my face clear of acne, which is often a result of oily skin.

QuestionShould I use toners?Community AnswerToners are great for oily noses. You can use a moisturizing toner if you want, but oil control toners will work even better.

QuestionI have combination skin, but I have an extremely oily nose. Any suggestions on what I should do?Community AnswerTry using skincare for combination and oily skin. I recommend the Laneige Oily and Combination Skin Care Kit, which is about $25 US. This kit is a game-changer.
