  • Question
Can I use two differently-shaped beads of the same color for my Hail Mary beads?
    Community Answer
That's fine, it's the prayer that's the important part.
  • Question
To whom did Mary give the string of beads?
    Community Answer
Mary gave the rosary to Saint Dominic, the founder of the Order of the Preachers, in 1214.
  • Question
Do rosaries have to be blessed?
    Grace Colebourn
    Community Answer
Not to pray them, but to have them blessed is a good and typical thing to do. Blessing the rosary beads allows them to become a Sacramental, which is a special outlet of graces instituted by the Church. But you can still pray the rosary on unblessed beads.
  • Question
How can I repair a rosary?
    Community Answer
You can repair the object, but you can't repair it as a whole. If you repair the object, you need to bless your chapelet. Ask your priest to help you.
  • Question
How can I make rosary beads out of fresh rose petals?
    Community Answer
You can't, as rose petals will quickly wilt and decompose.
  • Question
Shouldn't the Our Father beads be a different size/shape than the Hail Mary beads? I usually pray the Rosary in the dark (before bed), so I can't see color differences.
    Community Answer
You´re right, they should be. Although most Rosaries do not have a size difference between the Our Father beads and the Hail Mary beads, I have owned and seen some with slightly larger Our Father beads.
