  • Question
Before reading this, I thought it would be easier to start with the branches if using beads. How do the beads attach securely when starting at the roots?
    T. Chinsen
    Top Answerer
With the final bead at the open end, pass one wire through the bead hole a second time for the most secure method. It can also be secured by making a wire spiral against the bead. Make the spiral large enough to cover the bead hole and press it onto the bead.
  • Question
Is there a way to add branches to the tree once it's done?
    Community Answer
Yes. You just have to twist the branch all the way up the trunk to secure it.
  • Question
Am I the only who is confused as to how to go from 3 linear beads straight into a cross? Am I missing one step?
    T. Chinsen
    Top Answerer
The instructions shown at step 3 is an example of how to twist the wires around the bead. The article does not show the image of adding a single bead on each wire to form the 'T' shape. Use the image as a guide to create the shape shown in the next step.
  • Question
Where do I buy the wire and boards?
    T. Chinsen
    Top Answerer
Craft stores carry the items listed in the "Things You'll Need" section at the very end of the article. Wire for jewelry comes on a spool with many color options. Floral wire is straight, not as flexible, and has wires with a wider range of thickness.
  • Question
Will the wire on the sculpture tarnish?

    Community Answer
It depends on the wire you use. If the wire says it is tarnish free then you should be fine.
  • Question
How many pieces of wire do I need for a nice tree?
    Community Answer
I would say about 8 to 10 for a good tree, but it depends on your bead choice.
  • Question
If I need to use a soldering iron, on which part of the tree can I use it?
    Community Answer
You could use it at the trunk of the tree to help keep the wire together, or you could use it near the top of the branches if the beads are bending them.
  • Question
How do I attach the tree to a rock so it looks like the roots are holding it to the rock?
    Jennifer
    Community Answer
Leave some space at the bottom where the roots should be and wrap a few together to make them thicker. Then wrap them almost like a cage around the rock. You can also use a glue gun to help stabilize it. The larger the tree, the larger and heavier the rock should be so it will not to fall over from being top heavy.
