  • Question
What are the pros and cons of submersible vs. deep well water pumps?
    Community Answer
The use of one over the other is determined by the height the water that needs to be lifted.
  • Question
How do I pull a submersible motor?
    Community Answer
First, you will need a puller. This is a peace of pipe 6 feet long, threaded on one end. On the top, weld a piece of pipe 16-24 inches long to make a puller that looks like a long legged T. Open your well by removing the well cap. With a flashlight attached to your hand, look down the inside and find the pitless adapter. Thread the puller into the top of the adapter. Take a hammer and tap firmly down. Then tap the underside of the T handles (both sides). Lift the puller and pull your pump out. You'll need the help of at least two more people.
  • Question
How does water get from the pressure tank into my house?
    Community Answer
The water from the well enters the pressure tank through a T-fitting. The water can go either into the tank or to the faucet. When you turn the faucet off, the water will continue to go into the tank until the pressure switch turns off the pump. When you open a faucet, the water reserved in the tank will flow until the pressure falls to the point where the pressure switch turns the pump on.
  • Question
Do all pumps have a pitless adapter?
    Community Answer
No, some have the water line come out the top of the well casing and into the supply line or pressure tank.
  • Question
    How do I wire a 220 well?
    Community Answer
In most states, you need a licensed pump installer or electrician to do it.
  • Question
My deep well pump won't go past 30 lbs, and when I open a faucet it loses all pressure. What's the problem?
    Community Answer
It appears that the plunger is worn out and needs to be replaced. Find out where you can get a replacement for the pump, or put in another, probably better one.
  • Question
Why does my submersible pump make my breaker trip?
    Community Answer
It may be that you have a short or a bad pump, or bad wires. Have an electrician check the starting capacitor and other connections. If down-hole, then pull the well and have pump tested and likely replaced.
