For a 2-wire pump, 12-2 solid or braided core submersible pump wire is commonly used, with 12-2 underground wire run from the house to the well. This may change on deeper wells or higher output pumps, though. Use a 20 amp breaker with the aforementioned 12-2 wiring setup.

First check to make sure you have power going from the control box to the well. If it is a deep well pump you most certainly have no water if the pump is bad. At the well head you will have to check for continuity with a voltage meter.
