That's just a feature of the software of the phone, no need to worry about it. There are applications that change the status bar color depending on what application you are on; search the Play Store for "status bar color change".

When using RCS read receipts with an iPhone user, will I know if they've read my message?

No, Samsung and iPhone do not use the same software for the read receipts. Therefore, they will be unable to see when you read them.

I have an iPhone. My husband has an Android. Whenever I text him it says "Read." I thought it only says that if we both have an iPhone.

This is a new feature that has been recently rolled out called "RCS," which makes iPhones and Androids more compatible. You should now be able to utilize read receipts, use reacts seamlessly and get better-quality MMS (photos and videos) from iPhones.

I have a Galaxy 22s. I've sent texts that show "Read" with a time stamp from that night, but he says he was asleep and didn't get them until the next morning.
