The "Restore Last Session" button in Google Chrome was removed in the past, but you can still get your tabs back if you accidentally closed the browser window. Here's how to recover a recently closed Chrome session using your Windows or Mac computer.

Things You Should Know

  • To restore all recently closed tabs in Chrome, use the shortcut CTRL + Shift + T (Windows) or CMD + Shift + T (Mac).
  • You can also click "â‹®" → hover over "History" → hover over "[#] tabs" → "Restore window".
  • To enable "Continue where you left off", open the Settings. Click "On startup", then select "Continue where you left off".

    Open Google Chrome on your computer. The Chrome icon looks like a multicolored ball with a blue dot at the center. You can find it in your Applications folder on a Mac and your Start menu on Windows.

    • Under Recently closed , you should see [#] tabs . This indicates the number of closed tabs from your last closed session.

    This is at the top of the menu. The full window will be restored with all listed tabs. [1] If you'd rather open a single tab, click the individual page listed below Restore window to open it.
    • Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut : CTRL + Shift + T (Windows) or CMD + Shift + T (Mac) to restore all recently closed tabs quickly.
    • If this doesn't restore the tabs you need, you can always check your browser history to open it manually.

    There are three dots on the top right of Chrome. Click that and you'll see the history tab there. You can also just press control and H to pull it up.

    What do I do when I had multiple windows with a couple of tabs and I close them, then opened a new one which I also closed?

    You can go into your Chrome history and open the tabs you previously closed. To open history, click the 3 dots in the top right corner and either press the history button or hover over it to select one of the recent tabs you closed.
