Stop your Roku from getting too hot

Your Roku device may get warm during use but it shouldn't be scorching hot. If your Roku device is overheating, you'll see a red light and/or the error message "Your device is overheating" on the upper right hand corner of the screen. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to cool it down. Here's what to do if your Roku is overheating.

Cooling Down a Roku Device

  • If your Roku is overheating, unplug it and wait 10 minutes. Plug it in again. Repeat up to three times.
  • Use an HDMI extender to move your Roku device away from the back of your TV.
  • Keep air circulating in the room and around your device.
