Did your friend send you a picture in Facebook Messenger? It's easy to save photos to your computer. Here's how to save pictures on Facebook Messenger using a computer.

Click the Messenger icon and select "See all in Messenger." Click the chat, click "i" next to the user's name, select "Media," and click a picture. Click the download icon, right-click the image, select "Save image as," and choose where to save it.

  1. Go to https://www.facebook.com in a web browser. Facebook will open up to your News Feed.
    • If you aren't automatically logged into Facebook on your browser, log in with your email or phone and your password.

  2. This button looks like a speech balloon icon with a thunderbolt in it. You can find this in the top-right corner.

  3. This is at the bottom of the drop-down menu. A new page will open containing all your messages.
  4. You'll see all your recent chats on the left side of the page. [2]

  6. You'll see this in the right panel. This will open a new page with all media (photos and videos) sent between you and the recipient.
    • If you don't see "Media," click Media, files and links in the right panel first.

  8. This looks like two overlapping rectangles with a down-facing arrow. This opens the picture in a new browser tab but is not yet saved to your computer. [4]
  9. If you're using a Mac, control-click the image.
  10. This saves the selected picture to the folder you select.
    • If you can't download images from Messenger, the person you are chatting with may have privacy controls to prevent you from downloading their sent images. You can take a screenshot , but they may get a notification that you have done so.

    After you click the download icon, you're prompted to select a destination for the file. You can save another image to see what folder opens by default, but if that doesn't work for you, check the "Downloads" folder in your file explorer.
