It’s helpful to write with a fine-tip pen or a mechanical pencil with a very fine lead (.5 mm or smaller). Practice writing as tiny as you can on another piece of paper so you can get the hang of it. You can also maximize your space by using abbreviations or symbols instead of writing out full words—just make sure you can remember what they mean!

Most teachers don't allow phones out during tests because it's very easy to cheat with a phone. Luckily, you don't need a phone to make a reference sheet. Use an index card or a piece of loose leaf paper and hand write your reference sheet. You could also type it up on the computer and print it out.

Remember: this should not be a cheat sheet. If your teacher does not specifically tell you that you can have an "allowed reference sheet", then it is cheating. But you can certainly study off your allowed reference sheet before the test.
