  • Question
Should a Jehovah's Witness go into a home of minors with no parental consent and start teaching?
    Community Answer
No, it would not be appropriate for a Jehovah's Witness to enter a home without the consent of an adult.
  • Question
Will acknowledging that I am a practicing Christian deter Jehovah's Witnesses?
    Community Answer
No, it would not deter them.
  • Question
What do I do if I'm gay and my friend is a Jehovah's Witness and doesn't approve of it?
    Community Answer
If your friend is unwilling to put aside their beliefs in order to respect you as a person, you should end this friendship. If your friend tries their best to be respectful to you, perhaps you could just avoid discussing each other's personal lives.
  • Question
Can I use a gun as a threat to have them stop coming to my house?
    Community Answer
No, they would most likely call the police and have you arrested if you use a firearm in a threatening manner.
  • Question
Is there any effective way to put up a sign that specifically tells them to go away?
    Community Answer
Post a no trespassing sign where it is easy to see. Having this posted, they will not be able to come onto your property legally. If they do, then calling authorities would then be deemed appropriate.
  • Question
A poison ivy vine has started to grow on my front porch. If I let it mature while using the back door, will this discourage the witnesses?
    Community Answer
If it makes it hard for them to get to your front door or to ring your doorbell, it might.
  • Question
What do I do if Jehovah's Witnesses are on my bus?
    Community Answer
Tell them you're not interested and politely ask them to leave you alone. If they continue talking to you after that, put in earbuds if you have them.
  • Question
When I lived in a poor area, I never had any Jehovah's Witnesses knock at my door. When I moved to a much nicer area, they started to come around more frequently. Is money a factor when trying to spread the word?
    Community Answer
Not at all. It's possible that there just weren't any Jehovah's Witnesses in your previous neighborhood.
  • Question
How do I get them out permanently off my door?
    Community Answer
Be polite but firm when telling them you are not interested, then close your door.
  • Question
Can I still be friends with people who are not Jehovah's Witnesses?
    Community Answer
    Yes, you can.
  • Question
Why can't people just stop the conversation immediately by saying they're not interested in a polite and forthright way?
    Community Answer
Because you usually can't get a word in, and many Witnesses now wear "mufti" (i.e. not the typical shirt and tie), pretend to need directions or to have moved to the neighbourhood or something similar, and only reveal that they are Witnesses deep into the conversation.
  • Question
Is it deemed okay for a JW to have fundraiser after fundraiser for their own family?
    Community Answer
Some of the families dedicate as much time as possible to preaching and this makes it a struggle financially. All the money in the world belongs to Jehovah anyway so if He desires for them to be taken care of this way, who are we to question it. The end of this wicked old system is drawing near so be on the lookout and not judge others.
  • Question
How often do Jehovah's Witnesses have to go door to door?
    Community Answer
There is no official set amount of hours required for a witness to go door to door. But God does require we give him our best. God can read hearts and he knows your motives and intentions, so if you do your best he will accept that.
  • Question
How do I see a Jehovah's Witness's point of view?
    Community Answer
Find those who are Jehovah's Witnesses and observe them or hang around them. I worked with a woman who is a Jehovah's Witness, and she is one of the finest and most Christian people I have ever known. She never bothered anyone or said anything unkind. Since working with her, I have totally changed my attitude toward people who are Jehovah's Witnesses, and I realize they are good people and good Christians.
  • Question
Do Jehovah's Witnesses normally travel in pairs?
    Community Answer
Usually, yes. This is based on how Christians preached in the times of Jesus (Luke 10:1 "After these things the Lord designated 70 others and sent them out by twos ahead of him into every city and place where he himself was to go"). However, you may be approached just by one JW.
  • Question
I heard JW’s are trained to walk through fences and won’t think they are trespassing on people's property. What should I do if this happens?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
That's false information. A human being can't squeeze through a fence. However, if they climb over your fence, you should call the police.
  • Question
Why do people not like Jehovah's Witnesses? They're just trying to tell you things about Jehovah.
    Community Answer
Many people find the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses to be controversial and difficult to embrace. Their unsolicited appearance on one's doorstep -- though well-intentioned -- can be annoying and uncomfortable.
  • Question
Can I spray them with a hose or let my dogs out to chase them away?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
Don't do either of those things. Spraying them with a hose isn't illegal and won't hurt them, but they may be angry with you. If your dogs are known for aggression, don't let them hurt them in any way. Jehovah's Witnesses are people, too.
  • Question
I feel discouraged by people who say bad things about JW, because I am one. Are Jehovah's Witnesses really that bad?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
This is a subjective question. It depends on your point of view and/or past experience with them.
  • Question
I am bisexual, and I can't control that whatsoever. I can't control who I love, but I know Jehovah's Witnesses are completely against bisexuality. What should I do?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
Don't join Jehovah's Witnesses. They are against homosexuality. Love who you love. Jehovah's Witnesses don't control your life. You do.
  • Question
    Do Jehovah's Witnesses enjoy lemonade?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
Some may enjoy lemonade, others may not.
  • Question
I have a "No solicitation" sign on my door. As a workaround, Jehovah’s Witnesses have resorted to sending me letters in the mail. Aside from refusing letters, do I have any recourse?
    Community Answer
Sure! Throwing the letters away is even easier than refusing them. It takes two seconds.
  • Question
What should I do if they ignore my wish to be left alone?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
If they won't leave you alone, the best action is to call the police. Harassment is illegal. (Be ready to prove they're harassing you.)
  • Question
Can Jehovah's Witnesses be trapped if you add security?
    Community Answer
Don't try to trap anyone. The law takes a dim view of kidnapping.
  • Question
If a Jehovah's Witness comes to your door, should you be rude to them and spit at them and do mean and disrespectful things that would hurt them and yourself and then call the police?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
Don't be rude to them or spit at them. The witness could retaliate or call the police. The Golden Rule states "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" (Luke 6:31 and Matthew 7:12). Basically, treat others badly, they will treat you badly, and treat others nicely, they will treat you nicely.
  • Question
If I tell JW’s that I believe in multiple gods and goddesses, and that I am pagan, would that deter them?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
No, it probably wouldn't deter them.
  • Question
If I ask a Jehovah's Witness to cut my grass or do small yardwork jobs before they talk to me, do they have to do it?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
No, they don't have to do it. It's their choice if they want to do it. Don't force someone to do something they don't want to do.
  • Question
Can they stand on the street across from your home all day and spend most of the night staring at your home?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
No, they can't and shouldn't do that. Spying on others can constitute as stalking.
  • Question
Are these people really that annoying?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
Some of these witnesses can be, while others aren't. It depends on the personality traits and the dedication of the witness.
  • Question
I am Pagan. Odinist specifically. I have a large Mjolnir on my front door. I also have two large pitbulls that are very protective of my fenced-in yard. If they come in and get bit, am I responsible?
    Gravity_Cipher
    Community Answer
Yes, you are. If they get bit, there can be charges, and you risk having your dogs destroyed or taken away.
