QuestionCan men's gloves be made in the same way?AbbyCommunity AnswerYes! If you use these directions, you will be making your own pattern tailored to fit a specific person's hand. So you can use these instructions to make gloves for any person of any hand size.

QuestionIn the directions, it says to keep your fingers together, draw a dot and put a straight line to the top, but the picture of the pattern has a rounded, open spaces between fingers. What should I do?Community AnswerYou're better off using the dot and line method as detailed. It will make for neater gloves that do not bunch between the fingers.

QuestionI read somewhere that you shouldn't use pins to hold the pattern (leather pieces) together. Is there another way? I've also noticed that no one really says what type of thread to use.Community AnswerThere's special clips on the market to keep unpinnable fabrics together. Clothes pins could be used as well, but might get in the way of sewing and weigh down your work considerably.

QuestionHow can I make leather gloves with something inside of them to make them warm?Community AnswerMake the pattern with whatever lining you plan on using, and then cut the leather with the same pattern with about an 3/8th of an inch larger on all sides, give or take. Sew the lining together into a glove first, and then the leather. Put the lining on your hand with the seams out, and then pull the leather over it with the seams in. Remove your hand from the leather and lining, leaving the lining inside the leather, then fold the entrance of the glove and lining in about a quarter of an inch. Sew all the way around the outside of the opening so the lining and leather are connected at the wrist.

QuestionI'm very confused about where it says "Add two inches of length to all sides of the pattern." Where am I supposed to add that?Community AnswerAround the perimeter of the pattern, it acts as a seam allowance. More space for you to sew a line of stitching so the glove doesn't end up too small as you make the pattern based on your hand measurements.

QuestionCan I do the same thing with latex?Community AnswerLatex is a stretchy thin plastic that will tear under strain. It's different from leather in that it has no grain. As leather is skin it will not tear too easily as long as you use a long enough stitch length (at least 3 or longer). Latex is traditionally heat sealed rather than sewn or 3D shaped using a mold, the stretch of the latex allowing it to fit more sizes. You cannot back sew (go back and forth to finish a line of stitching, instead you must leave your thread tails long enough to tie into knots) on either leather or latex or PVC unless the leather is fake as most PVC and fake leather is a plastic coating that is bonded to a fabric backing, it needs a woven material.
