Snapchat allows you to reopen or replay any Snap you receive one time as long as you do not leave the Chat screen. If you have Snapchat+, you can rewatch Snaps twice total. For Snap Stories, you can reopen and watch it as many times as you'd like. Here's how to reopen Snapchat pictures or videos on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

Quick Steps

  1. Tap a Snap to play it.
  2. Tap and hold the Snap to reload it.
  3. Tap the Snap to replay it for the first time.
  4. Tap and hold the Snap to reload it.
  5. Tap the Snap to replay it for the second time.

    • Replay Again is only available if you have a subscription to Snapchat+ . In addition to replaying Snaps twice, you can also customize your app icon, get chat wallpapers, custom notification sounds , and more. [1]
    • Similar to replaying Snaps normally, Replay Again will send a notification to the other user that you have replayed the Snap.
  2. This will reload the Snap.

  2. If you quit the app or switch to another page like your profile or the camera screen, you'll lose the opportunity to replay this Snap. [3]

Replaying a Snap Story

  1. This will switch you to the "Stories" screen.
    • You can also tap the two-person icon to navigate there.
    • When you replay a Snap, the user will be notified by Snapchat.
  2. You can see all your friends' stories under the Friends header at the top. Tapping a story will play it for the first time.
    • After you view a story, your friend's icon at the top of the Stories screen will turn into a black-and-white rounded arrow.
  3. This replays your friend's story. You can replay story Snaps as many times as you want until they expire.
    • Your friend will see that you've watched their Story, but they won't know how many times.
    • If your friend has Snapchat+ and has Story Rewatch Count enabled, they can see that you rewatched the Story at least once, but they won't see the total number of times. [5]

  1. When you first replay a Snap, Snapchat will send a notification to the user that you rewatched it. Other methods, such as using Airplane Mode before you open it, are not guaranteed to work.
